DISCLAIMERS
Medi-Share is not insurance, it is a not-for-profit sharing
ministry and is not guaranteed in any way. Medi-Share is exempt from regulation.
The following states require a notice for Medi-Share to qualify for an exemption
from insurance regulation. While Medi-Share is not insurance and therefore,
need not qualify for such exemptions, CCM has elected to publish these exemptions.

Kentucky
Your state is one of seven with "statutes of exemption"
detailing requirements for non-profit religious publication organizations
that share financial or medical needs. If the organization meets these rules
of exemption, it can operate without being regulated by the Dept. of
Insurance of that state. These rules of exemption, therefore, provide a "safe
harbor" for these religious organizations to share without being regulated by
state insurance law. If not met, it does not mean the sharing program is
insurance, but simply that the Department of Insurance may challenge the
organization to prove that they are not insurance.
Most of the Departments of Insurance have made inquiries
and investigated the activities of the Christian Care Ministry and its
Medi-Share program. It is the policy of Christian Care Ministry to cooperate
in these investigations so that the regulatory authorities will fully
understand that the ministry is not insurance. The Department of Insurance,
State of Kentucky got a Cease and Desist Order from a Judge in Kentucky. The
order was overturned and the case continues in the Franklin Circuit Court.

Special Notice
Although the Medi-Share program of The Christian Care ministry is exempt
from state and Federal regulation, certain states have rules to qualify for exemption. To meet
those rules, the following statement is required:
Attention - This program is not supported by an insurance company, nor is
it offered through an insurance company. This program does not guarantee or promise that your
medical bills will be published or assigned to others for payment. Whether anyone chooses to
pay your bills is entirely voluntary. This program should never be considered a substitute for
an insurance policy. Whether or not you receive any payments for medical expenses and whether
or not this program continues to operate, you are responsible for payment of your own medical
bills.
The Medi-Share Program is not insurance. Christian Care Ministry is just
that...a ministry. Christian Care Ministry, Inc., a 501(c)(3) Florida, not for profit
corporation, administers Medi-Share on behalf of the Medi-Share members. Christian Care
Ministry, Inc. is governed by a board of independent, outside directors from across the
evangelical Christian community.
It is important to note that Christian Care Ministry does not pay any
medical bills. Medi-Share members share their medical bills. Medi-Share simply brings together
a community of Christians to share their bills and facilitates processing those payments.
Payment of medical needs cannot be guaranteed. We encourage you to seek the advice of a health
insurance professional to further explain the difference between state-regulated health
insurance and a mutual sharing ministry like Medi-Share.
Most of the Departments of Insurance have made inquiries and investigated
the activities of the Christian Care Ministry and its Medi-Share program. It is the policy of
Christian Care Ministry to cooperate in these investigations so that the regulatory authorities
will fully understand that the ministry is not insurance. |
